Set up in 1774 as the first volunteer fire group in Alexandra, the Friendship Fire Company served a vital and memorable role in the community. Today, the Friendship Firehouse Museum preserves this legacy in the 1855 firehouse built for the company, with items like hand-drawn fire engines and other examples of firefighting equipment from centuries past on display, as well as stories and images from the fire troop's long history. The historic building sits half a dozen blocks west of the Stabler-Leadbeater Apeothecary Museum, near the edge of Old Town.
Open Fri. - Sat. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Sun. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Closed Mon. - Thurs.
