Originally one of George Washington's many different farm properties, River Farm has become the permanent home of the American Horticultural Society. Sitting on 25 acres of test and display gardens, it's located a few miles south of Old Town Alexandria, off East Boulevard Drive. Visitors can take tours of the farm, on which they'll see such wonders as a wildflower meadow, a yard full of pear and Osage orange trees, floribundas and climbers, and much more.
