At the Alexandria Black History Museum, the objects and exhibits on display relate to various events and eras in Alexandria as the relate to the local and national African American community. The museum's collection of over 3,000 items including photographs, documents, items from Africa and religious objects are the heart of most of the museum displays in the Robert Robinson Library. The attached Parker-Gray Gallery hosts displays that are temporary in nature, either from a traveling collection or from the possessions of other local groups. Located in northwest Old Town, the museum is due west of Oronoco Bay Park and a short drive away from attractions including the Torpedo Factory Art Center and The Athenaeum.
