Once the Virginia plantation of George Washington, the nation's first president, Mount Vernon is now America's most visited historic estate, consisting of 20 different buildings, 50 acres of gardens, a museum, the tombs of George and Martha Washington, a memorial to 18th-century slaves and much more. It lies on 500 scenic acres set 16 miles south of Washington D.C. right on the banks of the Potomac River.

Open daily Apr - Aug: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Mar. and Sep - Oct: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Nov - Feb: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Admission Details:

Adults $13; Seniors (62+) $12; Children (6-11) $6; Children 5 and under are free.
